Less Talk, More Photos
Hawaii with Samantha
I will be the first to admit that this blog post is way past due. However, in an effort to be better about posting and having more through catalog of my adventures I wanted to finish this. Even if it is 10 months late... Yeah. Whoops.
This is going to be a short but sweet post. While I did manage to take some photographs while on this trip, Sam and I spent more time out adventuring and hanging out on the beach.
So a little background. Samantha and I went to high school together, we've actually known eachother since 7th grade. Apparently we both had crushes on eachother, but were too chicken to ever admit it. So years later one of our good friends talked me into messaging her. Long story short, she was heading out to Hawaii for a trip and we decided to meet up. We figured worst comes to worse, we have a fun trip in Hawaii and a snorkeling buddy while we are there. Anywho, I'm writing this 10 months later and she is my girlfriend, so I must have done something right.
Okay, too much typing.
During our first couple days in Maui, I didn't bring out the camera too much, I didn't feel the need to scare Sam off quite yet. Here's one of the first photos I took on the trip. She asked to stop and get a coconut on the side of the road. How could I say no to that face?
We also drove up the Highway to Hana to a waterfall hike that I had learned about a few years earlier. As have started to learn, Sam finds animal friends wherever she goes. This rooster friend came over to use to say hello.
After we figured out our rooster friend was really there to just steal our snacks we started the hike through the forest.
Since the hike requires a swim up the river, there are no shots of the end waterfall. But here's one of the smaller ones at the bottom of the hike.
Our next day adventure was a trip to the top of Haleakala, which is one of the two National Parks in Hawaii and the tallest mountain on the island of Maui.
Yeah... it was cold and we did not dress appropriately. But look at that view!
Sam was very amused with the expansion of our Reeses. Haha.
Maui was a blast! On the last day we were there I received a call from work informing me that I had a trip to Kona the next day. So I flew home to California, then right back to Kona to continue the island life with Sam!
One of the first days we were on Kona Sam and I decided to do a coffee plantation tour at the Thunder Mountain Coffee plantation. It was pretty neat, we could to walk through the fields and Sam even got to eat an unroasted bean. Apparently it looked better then it tasted. Haha.
After our walk through the fields, we got to see some of the processing equipment.
Completely random, but we came across this standoff at the end of our tour. I found it amusing and felt the need to capture the moment.
We found another cat friend, he looked much cozier!
The next day we made our way over to Volcano National Park. It was quite the drive and on the way there we came across this area where waves were crashing up against lava rock. It was the middle of the day with not much foreground, but I still wanted to try and capture a few photos.
We made it! Our second National Park in one week!
Time to explore!
Kind of crazy to think only a couple of months later the volcano erupted and completely changed the crater. Glad we got to see it when we did!
Sam off to adventure through the lava tubes.
Hawaii will always be a special place for us, we had such a fun two weeks.
